NAAE urges FG to replace obsolete navaids

The National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE) wants the government to join the advancement in global aviation by replacing obsolete navigational aids (navaids) at airports.

A statement signed by NAEE President, Ebenezer Makanjuola, Secretary, Francis Omeje, also sought more manpower to enhance seamless operations.

NAAE said although navigational facilities deployed by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) rank among the best there is need to replace obsolete ones to line up with new technology.

It pledged to ensure optimal performance of equipment nationwide for the safety of the country’s airspace.

NAAE commended the government’s “massive deployment” of air navigational equipment and promised to ensure they remain functional, reliable, and serviceable.

It said it is fully involved in skill deployment for the success of the aeronautical information service automation project and the controller pilot data link connection of the Nigerian Airspace Management agency (NAMA).

NAAE, however, took a swipe at groups disseminating misleading information to frustrate the effort to improve navigational facilities.
