Popular Nollywood comic actor and activist, Debo Adedayo better known as Mr Macaroni has advised Nigerians to ignore the counsel of the Senior Shepherd-in-Charge of the Celestial Church of Christ, Genesis Global, Prophet Israel Oladele.
The clergyman in a now-viral video publicly declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting he has a duty to do so since they are both Yoruba men.
The cleric went on to assert that ignoring his tribe man to cast a vote for another tribe would portray him as a ‘bastard’.
Oladele went on to tell his critics that he does not care if they attack him over his choice of candidate, as he is prepared for whatever they throw at him.
“I cannot be a Yoruba boy and vote for Igbo boy. I will vote for Tinubu, I support Tinubu. Take it or not, I don’t care,” Prophet Israel Oladele said while addressing his church members
Reacting to the viral clip, the 28-year-old skit maker advised Nigerians to run from any religious leader asking them to vote for the presidential candidates on tribal sentiments.
He argues that the consideration for choosing the country’s next president must be based solely on their ability to deliver dividends of democracy.
Mr Macaroni wrote, “Dear Nigerians, If your religious leader is asking you to abandon all the qualities of a good leader and vote for the next President of this Nation just because you are from the same tribe as the candidate, then there is serious fire on the mountain. RUN!! Vote Wisely,”
