Chairman of Forte Oil, Femi Otedola, has debunked claims that he is contesting for governorship in Lagos State.

He tweeted on Wednesday disclaiming a statement which he is alleged to have originated from a parody Twitter account.

“My attention has been drawn to a news piece where false information from a parody account was posted. I am a man of the people and I will always be on the side of the masses but I am stating clearly via this medium that I am not running for office,” he tweeted.

He said that the current governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, was doing a great job and therefore does not see any need to contest against him.

“The Governor of Lagos State is doing a commendable job and Lagosians should be proud of him.”

Otedola was spotted in a public bus, popularly called Molue in Lagos on Wednesday. This sent the rumour mill into overdrive, suggesting that he may be eyeing the governorship seat.

He is from Epe the same place as Ambode.

Femi is the son of former governor of Lagos State, Michael Otedola, and father to the popular female DJ, DJ Cuppy.
