Milo U-13 African tourney: Ekeruche tasks Team Nigeria

Category Business Manager, Beverages, Nestle Nigeria Plc., Doja Ekeruche has tasked the country’s representatives at the forthcoming Nestle Milo Under-13 African Championship to live up to expectations.

 

The championship, a biennial event among Nestle Milo countries in Africa will hold in Lagos from May 29 to June 1, with the teams arriving on May 29 while first round of matches will hold on May 30, with the finals on May 31 and departure on June 1.

 

Host Nigeria, will be represented by St. Barnaba LGEA School, Ilorin, Kwara State and has been christened ‘Team Nigeria’. Other participating countries are Ghana, Kenya and South Africa.

 

Ekeruche said machinery has been put in place for Team Nigeria’s good outing at the championship.The Nigerian team will undergo intensive training with football experts in preparation for the championship.

 

“They will be trained for two weeks at the Kwara International Football Academy (KIFA) where they will be mentored and coached by football super stars.They will also undergo four-day training at The International Sports Academy (TISA), Wasinmi run by ex-international, Segun Odegbami,” she said.

 

She restated her company’s commitment to sports development in the country, especially at the grassroots.

“Nestle Milo has given impetus to the dreams of these young champions. We wish Team Nigeria success at the tournament and look forward to receiving the coveted trophy.We believe that among these children, we have the next Dele Alampasu and the next Kelechi Iheanacho who will do Nigeria proud when they join the Under-17 team,” she said.

 

South Africa hosted the first edition in 2010 when Team Nigeria won, and Ghana hosted and won the second edition in 2012. Team Nigeria is expected to win this third edition billed for the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos.
