Ex-Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi is set to play once again for his old club, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, several years after leaving the west London outfit.

The former Nigerian international is expected to join other Chelsea legends as they take on their Bayern Munich counterparts in a charity game in September.

The team that will represent the Blues will be drawn from the squad that won the UEFA Champions League (UCL) in 2012.

Chelsea defeated Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich, 4-3 on penalties in the final of that year’s edition, with Mikel Obi who announced his retirement from active football in September 2022, playing a pivotal role.

The charity game will afford the players from both sides a chance to reunite and reminisce on the memories of the special night in Munich.

Tagged “Legends of Europe”, the game is put together in remembrance of Chelsea legend, Gianluca Vialli who passed away last year.

Chelsea during the encounter, will be coached by Roberto Di Matteo and captained by their former skipper, John Terry.

Mikel Obi joined the Blues in 2006, making 249 appearances for them in all competitions and finding the back of the net on just one occasion.
