Argentina captain and Paris Saint-Germain forward, Lionel Messi has been slammed by French football journalist, Daniel Riolo, for leaving France a day after his team suffered a home league defeat.

The 35-year-old had on Monday, travelled to Saudi Arabia to perform his duties as the ‘travelling brand ambassador’ of the Arabian country, even though his team were defeated 3-1 by Ligue 1 opponent, Lorient on Sunday.

Messi’s indiscretion left Riolo infuriated and he took to social media to express his disappointment by condemning the action of the Argentine.

Taking to his Twitter handle, Riolo wrote: “The day after another dismal performance, Messi is in Saudi Arabia on promotion.

“Back on Wednesday for everyone. Is there not a single day when something goes wrong at PSG?”

Messi did not have a very bright performance during the clash against Lorient, as he registered no shots on target and completed only three dribbles against the opponent on Sunday.

Although PSG are still top of the French League with 76 points, the champions have no margin for error as they are just 5 points ahead of Marseille in second with five games to go.
