Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo and her colleague, Gift Ugochi Christopher, better known as Minister GUC, have sent tongues wagging on social media after they unfollowed each other on Instagram.
This comes days after Minister GUC posted a cryptic post about ungrateful people, which many netizens interpreted as a dig aimed at Mercy Chinwo.
He wrote: “Do good, help, assist as you can, and trust God to reward you.
“You see, man? Never trust that they will return the favour or repay you. You will be wasting your time.
“No matter what comes your way or is said, keep being who you are.
“In 100 people, 2 may really appreciate what you’ve done, and that’s ok. Most importantly, our reward is with God.
“Keep loving, keep interceding.
” Allow God to do what He does best and allow time to test men; keep being amazing, beloved”
A quick check on their Instagram page revealed the gospel musicians have cut ties, as they were no longer following each other.

Prior to the development, Mercy Minister GUC were close friends, who performed at each other’s weddings and were once signed to the same record label.
Reacting to the news of their feud, many of their fans expressed shock but defended them saying they are only human.
Other netizens, however, wondered why those preaching the gospel are keeping malice.
An IG user, okm_herbal wrote: “They are humans. Being a gospel musician doesn’t mean they can’t have misunderstanding. It just shouldn’t linger on for too long.”
Another internet user, mizattah said: “E dey happen for dis kin place too?”
ayetigbo added: “Some are saying GUC should rest. Lol… Eventually, he’ll get over it but as long as we don’t know the back story… He has a right to speak his mind. Everyone is accountable and if you’ve been kind to people, it is not too much to expect the same kindness from them. People will just stay judging like you’re not a human being with feelings. Jesus will continue to take care of each and everyone of us o.”
Another netizen, accessories_by_nene said: “The earlier we all realize that when we do good we should do it without expecting anything in return, the better for everyone of us.”
While chiiblez wrote: “I don’t understand Mercy again since she got married, she has been falling out with her fellow gospel singers, from having issues with Chidimma Ekile and now Minister GUC, I hope her hubby is not interfering in her career.”
