The fake bishops at the unveiling of Shettima on Wednesday

Men and women in Bishop robes attended the unveiling of former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, as vice presidential running mate to All Progressives Congress (APC) standard bearer, Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu picked a fellow Muslim, Shettima as running mate, a decision that has elicited severe criticisms, especially from the Christian community.

Following the criticisms that has trailed the Muslim/Muslim ticket of the APC, some persons dressed in the attire of Christian bishops attended the formal unveiling of  Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate.

At least 20 of these bishops were sighted at the event which is currently taking place at Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre in Abuja.

Reporting by Sahara Reporters indicated that the presence of the Bishops at the entrance of the venue caused stir as crowd taunted them and shouted “The bishops are here.”

The report also said the so-called bishops could not get seats at the main hall as they were seen being ushered to the gallery which served as overflow.

Tinubu picked Shettima as his running mate, a move that has triggered protest and even led to defections of prominent APC members to other political parties.

A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has warned that the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC, would cause the party severe hemorrhage in all elective positions in Christian communities.

Perhaps the presence of the bishops at the venue, is to douse that fear.

At the unveiling of Shettima, Tinubu said: “This chapter in our nation’s history demands a bold yet pragmatic approach. In selecting Senator Shettima I have committed myself to this path. I have made the hard choice because I believe it is the best choice.”
