Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, on Tuesday urged people of his state and Nigerians in general to embrace love, peace and unity as they commemorate the birth of Christ.

He made this known while  congratulating Christian faithful on the occasion of Christmas.

The governor also emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence in nation building and acknowledged the socio-economic challenges faced by the country at the moment.

He, therefore, encouraged Enugu residents and Nigerians to extend a hand of love and kindness to one another, especially to those in need, assuring that government policies would eventually deliver the much needed succour and economic restoration.

“The message of Christmas is one that speaks to the exigencies of every moment. It enjoins us to show love and empathy to all.

“As Christians across the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, may the message of joy inherent in Christmas radiate in our lives and in our dear nation.

“When we imbibe the true message of Christmas – love, peace, and unity – we will see no divisions, but a common thread of humanity.

“Being an end-of-year festivity, Christmas is often an auspicious time to re-dedicate ourselves to the virtues of peace, patriotism and love.

“I pray that the joy of Christmas be a source of comfort for those who grieve and an eternal flame that lights our path as a nation.” Mbah said.

Similarly, his counterpart in Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya also  felicitated with Christians in his state and across the world as they celebrate this year’s Christmas.

Yahaya who doubles as the Chairman of Northern Governors’ Forum, in a statement issued by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe on Wednesday, called on the Christian faithful and all citizens of Gombe State to embrace the core values of Christmas which connote love, peace, reconciliation, and selflessness, while reflecting on its deeper spiritual significance.

“As we mark this joyous occasion, I urge everyone to emulate the virtues of love, sacrifice, and compassion demonstrated by Jesus Christ.

“Let us use this period to promote unity, understanding, and cooperation among ourselves, which are essential for building a harmonious and progressive society,” the Governor said.

Yahaya further encouraged the people of Gombe State to sustain the bonds of brotherhood and communal support, emphasizing the need for continued peace and stability in the state.

He called for prayers for the prosperity and well-being of the nation, especially during these challenging economic times.

He reminded citizens to remain hopeful and continue to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which aims to build a resilient and prosperous Nigeria for all.

“While these times are undeniably tough, I encourage everyone not to lose hope but to stay optimistic and committed to the vision of a better Nigeria.

“Together, we can overcome our challenges and pave the way for a brighter future,” he further said.
