MaxAir passengers stranded inside aircraft in Abuja as plane develops technical fault

By Our Reporter Passengers travelling on MaxAir flight VM1609 from Abuja to Lagos are currently on board and unable to proceed with their flight.

Techinal issues are suspected but the air crew are not telling passengers anything.

Instead, they are not allowing frustrated and agitated passengers to disembark.

Children are crying inside the aircraft.

Our reporter who is one of the stranded passengers right now reports that the aircraft scheduled to leave the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport for the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos at 11:30 am attempted to leave at 11:50 am but after less than a kilometre stopped and had to return to the hanger.

Most Passengers are silently waiting for updates from the pilot but a couple of passengers have requested to be allowed to disembark.

The pilot just came on air now to announce that they are waiting for clearance and pleaded for patience promising that they will fly in six minutes. It is well over 20 minutes.

Some passengers are now disembarking, accusing the airline crew of lying to them.

Recall that in December 2021, an aircraft in the fleet of Nigeria’s dominant airline, Air Peace, was rammed into by an aircraft 5N-ADB, belonging to MaxAir while taxing at the Benin Airport runway, in Edo State. The aircraft was boarding Abuja bound passengers at the time the incident occurred.

The hit damaged the left elevator of the aircraft thereby rendering the aircraft grounded and unserviceable.

In all these, MaxAir insist they are developed reputable, reliable and safety conscious airline with strong commitments to quality and affordable timely services.
