Habibu Yakubu’s solitary goal on 17 minutes helped Katsina United beat Wikki Tourists 1-0 in one of the NPFL MatchDay 18 games played at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Sunday.
While Yakubu is happy to have scored the goal that made the difference, he is not comfortable with the team’s performance away from Katsina and wants an improvement in order to retain their place in the top flight.
Katsina United are yet to pick a point on the road this season and have romanced the relegation zone on the standings after a run of poor forms.

‘We need to step up our performance on away games if we must salvage the reputation of our team and remain on this league. Our form is very poor especially playing away and we are in a dangerous position, so it is very important to start winning away henceforth”, noted a worried Yakubu.
Wikki Tourists deployed accurate passes to peg back their host in the first period. Skipper Idris Guda Mohammed almost broke the deadlock with two separate shots saved by Goalkeeper Daouda Kassaly.
The visitors also blasted the woodwork through Anas Yusuf in a desperate fight to level scores on 57 minutes, but were later pressed back by the host team after being reduced to ten men.
Murtala Dagbo got the marching orders after a second bookable offence.
The win moved Katsina United to 16th on the league table with 20 points from eighteen rounds of matches and they travel to face Abia Warriors next Sunday.
Wikki Tourists are positioned 8th with 26 points from 18 games and their next game is home against Enyimba International.
