Nigeria’s new chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier-General Buba Marwa (rtd), has officially resumed office, warning Nigerians to stay clear of substance abuse.
Marwa was a former military administrator of Lagos state.
While addressing NDLEA senior officers in Abuja, Marwa said he would overhaul and expand the agency to effectively deal with the menace of drug abuse in the country.
Marwa’s had headed the Presidential Advisory Committee for the Elimination of Drug Abuse. He said the overhauling of NDLEA will be done in line with the recommendations of the committee.
He noted that the number of people involved in the drug abuse in the country has surpassed 15 million, warning that the agency will deal with all those involved in drug and substance abuse in the country.
