Marseille gaffer, Igor Tudor, has showered encomium on his Arsenal loanee, Nuno Tavares, claiming the left-back is yet to come to terms with his potential.

The 22-year-old Portuguese defender was signed by Arsenal from Benfica in 2021 but had failed to shine, despite getting plenty of playing time due to injuries to Kieran Tierney.

Tavares struggled all through his first season in the Premier League (PL) in the left-back position for the Gunners but has now found his mojo at the Ligue 1 club, Marseille, where he is currently on loan.

The arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from PL champions, Manchester City has not helped his course, as it prompted him to join the French side in the summer, having realised he will get very little opportunity to play at Arsenal.

Tavares has so far scored 3 goals in just seven league appearances for Marseille and his new boss is predicting he would evolve as a more potent attacking threat as the season goes on.

Tudor speaking about Tavares after one of their matches said, “He sometimes doesn’t even realize his qualities.

“It is so hard to follow him when he accelerates.

“If he continues at this pace, he risks tormenting more than one Ligue 1 defence,”
