Markets, schools shut as PDP holds presidential rally in Delta 

Some of the affected persons who couldn’t accessed their stalls because of the shutting down of their market, say it is shameful for the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, to order that market be closed just to hold a rally.

Markets and schools were reportedly shut in Asaba, the Delta State capital for the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). 

The rally was a way for the Governor of Delta State and Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP, Ifeanyi Okowa, to show the strength of the party in his state. 

The rally saw different groups dressed in colorful regalia at the venue, which is the Stephen Keshi Stadium. 

Presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar was accompanied to the rally by former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, Director Generals of the PDP campaign councils – Governors Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State and Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, among other dignitaries.

The shutting down of public facilities, including schools and markets to mobilise people to attend the rally, was however condemned by some people affected by the decision. 

Among the facilities shut are Ogbeogonogo market, Zappa Basic secondary school and Umuagu, Uzoigwe primary school,
