Traders in Anambra State spontaneously closed their shops Thursday  to catch the glimpse of Mr. Peter Obi, who was in the state.

Obi, the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had paid unscheduled visit to some markets in the state.

Markets visited included Building Material market at Ogidi; New Tyre market at Ogidi;  Afor Igwe, Umudioka;  Oye Olisa, Ogbunike; New Parts, Nkpor, among others.

In the markets, Obi who interacted with traders, explained to them the reasons to vote in the PDP as resting on the need to stop the total collapse of the country as being witnessed presently.

He also assured them that with Alhaji Abubakar Atiku as the president, the condition of traders would improve, with planned development of more Sea ports in the state.

He also assured them that Atiku, noted for wealth-creation in his private life, would replicate the same if voted in.

On power infrastructure, which is a hindrance to the survival of Small and Medium enterprises, Obi assured that Atiku’s economic blueprint contained articulated steps to be taken for the revamping of the power sector in the country.

At the markets, the response by market leaders struck the same cord: That Obi being a fellow trader and having demonstrated superb leadership as the former Governor should be massively voted for to export his Anambra experience to the entire country.

Obi was accompanied by the PDP chieftains such as Osita Chidoka, Oseloka Obaze, Harry Oranezi, Alex Obiogbolu, among others.

Meanwhile, Obi has called on traders not to allow Nigeria to collapse.

He made the appeal while campaigning in selected markets across Anambra State.

Obi who moved from market to market, namely Ose Okwodu, Bright, Main Market, Ochanja and Upper Iweka reminded traders that business needed good policies to thrive.

He appealed to them to vote the PDP which presidential candidate is Alhaji Abubakar Atiku because of his readiness to formulate and implement good policies that will expand the opportunities of doing business in Nigeria.

Obi went on to reel out some of the policies Atiku has already mapped out to boost businesses to include cut in taxes, development of ports in other parts of the country, improvement of road and transport infrastructure and removal of bottlenecks that hinder movement of goods from one part of the country to another.

Obi assured traders that a vote for Atiku is a vote for the salvation of Nigeria.

His words: “A vote for Atiku is a vote to put Nigeria on the track of development”.
