Management of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron has offered reasons it approved the redeployment of more than 300 non academic staff members across various cadres and departments .
Aside strengthening all departments, the shake up also would make staff that had remained stagnated in one position to gain knowledge and experience.
The mass movement of workers which is unprecedented in the history of the academy, saw some persons who hitherto had been in a position for over 17 years being moved to other departments within the academy’s main campus at at the Liaison Offices in Lagos and Abuja.
Academy sources disclosed that the Rector, Comm. Emmanuel Duja Effedua, had expressed commitment in bringing out the best from all the academy’s employees by deploying them to places and positions where they will add more value for the good and growth of the academy.
The source added that the postings are aimed at strengthening the workforce at the level of Liaison offices where senior officers of higher cadres now take charge in interfacing with other agencies of government and private sector stakeholders who from time to time may need to send their staff members on courses to the academy.
Responding to a telephone inquiry, the new Head of Public Relations, Mr. Nelson , confirmed the postings but could not give accurate details as he said he was just resuming at the academy’s main campus from Abuja.
He assured of getting details from the Personnel and Administration Departments soon on full assumption of office..
