City stay top with the stalemate, but with just one point ahead of Liverpool and with 7 games to go, it is still all to play for

Man City failed to increase their lead at the top of the premier league, after they were held to a 2-2 draw by their closest rival, Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
The home side opened the scoring as early as the 5th minute as Kevin de Bruyne was set up by a quick free-kick and his shot found the bottom corner of the net via a deflection off Joel Matip.
Liverpool hit back in style 8 minutes later, when Andy Robertson’s deep chipped cross was put back across for Diogo Jota, who scored and equalised for the visitors.
City retook the lead in the 36th minute when Gabriel Jesus got in behind the Liverpool defence to cushion a shot in off the underside of the bar after Joao Cancelo put a superb cross inside the box.

With the Citizens’ second goal, Gabriel Jesus has now ended a run of 15 Premier League appearances without a goal, as he has not scored from 35 shots in the period.
After the break, Liverpool upped the tempo and Mohamed Salah was found by Trent Alexander-Arnold and the Egyptian’s incisive pass frees Sadio Mane in the middle to finish past Ederson.
Raheem Sterling thought he had put the league leaders back in front in the 63rd minute but his goal was ruled offside after a VAR check.
Both sides made substitutions to gain the upper hand but they were unable to breach each other’s rear guard as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
