Manchester City starlet Kelechi Iheanacho still remains a major doubt for the Rio Olympics with a top team official rating his chances of being in Brazil as “50-50”.
City are yet to inform Nigeria they will release the 19-year-old Iheanacho for the summer games.
And Nigeria U23 spokesman Timi Ebikagboro has now said they are adopting a cautious approach as regards Iheanacho’s availability for the games particularly against the background that City have a new manager.
“He has to show up at City, who know have a new manager in Pep Guardiola. Had it been it was still the former coach (Manuel Pellegrini), that may not have been the case.
“So, we just have to wait and see how things play out.”
Iheanacho is due to head off with City on pre-season training later this month.
