Victor Lindelof has told Aftonbladet he is ‘”ready to adapt” to the pressure of playing for one the world’s biggest clubs after completing his move from Benfica to Manchester United.
Lindelof, 22, has cost the Premier League club a reported fee of €35 million and signed a four-year contract at Old Trafford.
The centre-back, who has won 12 full caps for Sweden, also revealed that manager Jose Mourinho had helped persuade him to swap Lisbon for Manchester.
“I’m proud and happy to have been given this chance, but I need a few days so that everything calms down,” Lindelof said. “Then I’ll be even happier.
“I’m very happy. Everything happened quickly, it’s been a hectic day. To come to the Premier League, and one of the world’s biggest clubs, it’s a lot to take in. But it’s really a dream come true.
“There has been so much [rumours and speculation], I’m just glad it’s finished and that I’m sitting here today. I’m glad I don’t have to answer those questions [about his future] and don’t need to evade them. That feels great.”
