Leed United rallied back after Rodrigo scored in the 53rd minute and Raphinha equalised to make it 2-2 to the hosts in the 54th minute.
Fred then restored Man Uniteds’ lead as he gave them a 3-2 lead in the 70th minute before Anthony Elanga wrapped up the points late on.
The win means Man United are now 4 points away from West Ham and Arsenal in 5th and 6th respectively. However, the Gunners have 3 outstanding games.
They next play Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday before they face London club, Watford, at Old Trafford on Saturday.
