The news that Portuguese striker, Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to leave Old Trafford during this transfer window for a club playing Champions League football didn’t quite sit well with the fans of the club.
But it has now been revealed that his team-mates at Manchester United celebrated when he informed the club he wants to leave this summer.
With the transfer window set to close this Thursday, it is looking unlikely that the 37-year-old might get his wish.
Ronaldo’s 24 goals in all competitions last season were not enough to qualify United for the Champions League, a competition he desperately wants to continue playing in.

While fans are split on whether Ronaldo’s departure would be a positive thing for new manager Erik ten Hag, it is now clear that his team-mates wanted his exit from the Manchester club.
According to ESPN, majority of the players reacted with joy when it emerged in July that the legendary No.7 wanted to leave, as he’d become a “pain in the ***.”
Ten Hag has handed Ronaldo only one start this season and that was in the humiliating 4-0 drubbing at Brentford.
He came in as a substitute in St Mary’s Stadium in the 68th minute when Manchester United narrowly defeated Southampton.
It is unlikely that Ronaldo will be starting against Leicester City in Thursday night’s mid-week game, given the fact that the team has been winning without him.
