Man pleads guilty to dealing in illicit drugs

A 24-year-old man, Chiazo Obi, was on Wednesday arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos over illicit drugs deal.

The defendant was arraigned before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke on a three-counts charge bordering on unlawful illicit drugs deal.

After listening to the charge preferred against him, he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Following his ‘guilty’ plea, the prosecutor, Mrs N.J Mamza, applied for a date to enable her review the facts of the case.

The court adjourned the case until June 21 for review.

According to the charge, the defendant committed the offence on May 13, at the Mazamaza area of Lagos.

He was said to have unlawfully dealt in 9g of Cocaine, 5g of Heroin and 21g of Cannabis Sativa.

The prosecutor said that all substances are classified as banned narcotics in the NDLEA schedule.

The offence contravenes the provisions of Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, 2004.
