A 23-year-old man, Julius Nwode Nwigboaka, yesterday murdered his father, Chief Nwode Nwigboaka, and sister at Ifelemenu, Ekpaomaka in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Julius’ sister’s name could not be immediately ascertained.
The incident occurred in the afternoon.
The suspect inflicted serious machete cuts on six other residents of the area before he was gunned down by a husband of one of the victims.
A resident, who gave his name simply as Ekoyo, told our correspondent that the suspect had taken hard drugs before he came into the house and killed his father who asked him where he had been all day long.
“When he was attacking his father with machete, Julius’ sister came out and asked him why he was attacking their father. After killing their father, Julius descended on her and hacked her to death.
“Some neighbours who saw what happened came to the scene. Julius attacked about six of them with the machete. As he was leaving the area wielding the machete, a man called Peter whose wife was among those attacked, went inside his house, brought his gun and shot him. He died instantly,” Ekoyo said.
Another resident, who pleaded anonymity, alleged that the suspect was testing his newly acquired charms when he went berserk. The bodies of Julius and his victims had been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki (FETHA) while the injured taken to an undisclosed hospital in the state.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Loveth Odah, expressed shock over the development.
Odah said that she needed to contact the Ikwo Divisional Police Officer for details.
