The man told onlookers shortly before killing himself, that despite proving his innocence at the Police station, he was still told to repay the money

The viral videos of a yet-to-be-identified man captured jumping into a lagoon in Lagos State after he was reportedly accused of stealing an undisclosed amount of money has set the internet buzzing.
According to reports gathered by TheNiche, the man ended his life on Saturday night at the Idumota Bridge, Lagos Island.
The development was disclosed by a Facebook user identified as Ngozi Blessing, who posted videos of the moment the aggrieved man told the onlookers about his plight and when he jumped into the river.
Blessing, in her post, said the man decided to kill himself after he was arrested and accused of stealing an amount of money, which he denied knowledge of.

She went on to say those who accused him of stealing gave him 24hrs to return the money or face the consequences.
She wrote: “He was saying in oyinbo that they framed him that he stole a huge of money which he did not and they said they give him 24 hours to refund the money and he did not steal and for him to eat once in a day is a problem that where did he want to get that kind of money from within 24 hours so he is tired of life and he jumped down the bridge.
“It happened yesterday night at Idumota bridge in Lagos island. I am tired of this country the man just wasted his life”.
One of the videos corroborated Blessing’s claim, as the man was seen explaining to those who gathered that he decided to end it all because he was frustrated after being wrongly accused of stealing money he cannot afford to pay back.
The man added that despite proving his innocence at the Police station, he was still told to repay the money.
He said, “Where I was living, they accused me of stealing, I told them I am not the one that stole it. I was arrested by the police and I was asked to say my side of the story. Despite that, they still threatened to kill me.”
Those who gathered to hear his story made futile attempts to save the man from committing suicide, but he jumped into the river despite their pleas.
