Man City leapfrog Arsenal after beating Wolves

Wolverhampton hosted Premier League champions, Manchester City at the Molineux in a game that took less than a minute to record its first goal. 

Man City opened the scoring as early as 55 seconds when Kelvin De Bruyne’s cross found Jack Grealish who slotted the ball into the net to give the Citizens the lead. The hosts had only touched the ball once before then.

The visitors doubled their goal tally in the 16th minute when Erling Haaland scored with a long-range effort after an assist from Bernardo Silva. 

Haaland with the second goal of the match has now scored 14 times in 10 matches in all competitions for Manchester City so far this season.

A spirited Wolves continued to try and attack, even after Nathan Collins was sent off for a high first-half tackle on Grealish in the 33rd minute.

However, with Raul Jimenez missing through injury and new arrival Diego Costa not deemed fit enough for any involvement yet, they were unable to turn their dominance into a goal. 

City eventually made it 3-0 after Phil Foden flicked home Kevin de Bruyne’s low cross midway through the second half to ensure the visitor went away with the 3 points.  

The comfortable win against the 10-man Wolves at Molineux means  Manchester City leapfrogged Arsenal, who doesn’t play until Sunday, to go into the top of the Premier League.
