Man, 21, docked for stabbing co-tenant

For allegedly stabbing his neighbour on the forehead, a 34-year-old trader was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

 

 

The accused, Babatunde Oladejo, who resides at Oluwole Olaniyan Street, Iyana- Ipaja, a Lagos suburb, is standing trial on a charge of aggravated assault.

 

 

He, however, entered a `not guilty’ plea.

 

 

The prosecutor, ASP Eranus Nnamonu told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 21 in front of his house on Oluwole Olaniyan Street, Iyana-Ipaja.

 

 

Nnamonu said the accused stabbed his neighbor, Taofeek Oyerinde, on the forehead with a knife following a disagreement over an undisclosed issue.

 

 

“A fight ensued following a heated argument. Oladejo then picked a knife and stabbed Oyerinde on the forehead, causing near fatal injuries.”

 

 

Nnamonu also informed the court that the accused resisted police arrest after the attack.

 

 

The prosecutor noted that the offences contravened Sections 117 and 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

 

 

The Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Komolafe, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to June 11 for trial.(NAN)
