The arrested fugitive, Abdulrasheed Maina, will no longer be eligible for bail until the end of his trial, a federal high court in Abuja has ruled.
Maina is the former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) who is standing trial for N2 billion fraud. After he was granted bail, he fled the country to evade trial, landing his surety, Senator Ali Ndume in trouble. Ndume spent five days in prison before the trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, decided to release him on bail.
Maina was however arrested in Niger Republic where he had fled to evade his trial.
“The defendant is already on bench warrant, his bail having been revoked. So, he shall be remanded in correctional service pending completion of trial,” the judge ruled.
