Nigerians have taken to social media to express their euphoria over the news of the return of Super Eagles’ first choice goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye to action this weekend.
The 22-year-old Nigeria goalkeeper returned to action in Sparta Rotterdam’s 2-2 draw against visiting Vitesse Arnhem at the Sparta-Stadion Het Kasteel on Saturday.
Maduka Okoye picked up an injury in November when he was stretched off the pitch in the 1-0 defeat to Ajax and has missed three other matches in all competitions since then.

Though the player assured his fans that the injury was not so serious, Super Eagles fans were worried, knowing how much of a calming influence he is to the team.
According toCompletesports.com, Okoye featured for 90 minutes against Vitesse, and the game was the goalie’s 15th league appearance of the campaign for Sparta Rotterdam.
The hosts squandered a two-goal lead to earn just a point in the thrilling encounter. Sparta Rotterdam are now without a win in their last six league games.
The news of his injury came after Nigeria’s top striker, Victor Osimhen picked up a facial injury which made him doubtful for AFCON in Cameroon in January.
Therefore, the news of Maduka Okoye’s return to action for his club has been described by Nigerians as a welcome development, given the fact that AFCON is in a few weeks.
