Super Eagles will be without their first choice goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, when they face neighbours and arch-rivals Ghana in the FIFA 2022 World Cup playoff on Friday due to illness.
This was made known by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) via Super Eagles Instagram account on Tuesday afternoon.
The news will come as a further blow to the aspirations of the Super Eagles after Wilfred Ndidi and Keneth Omeruo were earlier ruled out of the encounter due to various injuries.

Okoye will not recover in time for the game, therefore the Sparta Rotterdam goalkeeper was replaced by Enyimba’s John Noble.
The post read: “Maduka Okoye out of the clash against Ghana due to illness, he has been replaced by Enyimba FC goalkeeper, John Noble. Get well soon Maduks! #soarsupereagles.”
Ghana will host the first leg of the clash on Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, while the return leg will be hosted by Nigeria at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja four days later.
