Liverpool leapfrogged Manchester City and moved to the top of the English Premier League on Tuesday night after they walloped visiting Manchester United at Anfield.

The home side were very dominant as they had 72 percent of ball possession and restricted the visitors to just one shot on goal throughout the match.

The Red made their dominance count as they opened the scoring as early as the 5th minute when Mohamed Salah sent in a low ball for Luis Diaz to smash in unchallenged.

Liverpool doubled their advantage in the 21st minute after moving the ball around from one man to another near the United box until Sadio Mane flicked it into the path of Mohamed Salah who fired in to make it 2-0.

The hosts then took the game beyond Manchester United when Andy Robertson’s well-timed tackle near halfway, made it easy for Luis Diaz to set up Sadio Mane, who fired a first-time low finish into the bottom corner in the 67th minute.

Jurgen Klopp’s men then made the win emphatic after Anderson robbed substitute Hannibal Mejbri of the ball in the United half and found Diogo Jota, who sent a through pass to send Mohamed Salah who chipped and his effort over De Gea to win the game 4-0.

Liverpool with the win find themselves two points ahead of league leaders, Man City, who do not play until tomorrow. They will now need to win against Brighton to regain the lead.

Meanwhile, Arsenal moved back into the fifth position without kicking a ball and can afford to lose 3-0 when they play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tomorrow and still stay in fifth after Man Uniteds’ annihilation.
