Carabao Cup winners, Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0 to go within 3 points of Premier League leaders, Man City, who do not play until Monday night.
The visitors were kept at bay by Brighton until the 19th minute when Colombian winger, Luiz Diaz opened the scoring after Joel Matip played a killer through-pass to him.
The Brighton goalkeeper was fortunate not to receive any punishment as he clattered into the Colombian forward, whose celebrations were put on hold as he received treatment following the high challenge.
The Reds were awarded a penalty by the referee in the second half after Yves Bissouma was judged to have handled the ball inside the penalty box.

Mohamed Salah stepped forward and scored the spot kick after sending Sanchez the wrong way to make it 2-0 to the visitors.
With the win, Liverpool have now won eight league games in a row and cut Manchester Citys’ advantage to just 3 points.
Jurgen Klopp will be hoping the win did not come at a cost after Mohamed Salah was replaced in the 65th minute by Diego Jota after he got injured.
Brighton on the other hand, have now lost five consecutive Premier League matches and increasingly getting nervous despite being 5 points off the relegation zone.
