Marcia Cibele Aoki, widow of the late football legend, Pele is set to inherit 30 per cent of his assets.

This was disclosed by her lawyer, Luiz Kignel, who also said a woman who could be Pele’s unrecognised daughter, may also be in contention to be a beneficiary of his will.

According to AFP, Pele’s will stated that Aoki, his third and last wife, will inherit his mansion in Guaruja, a seaside resort town south of Sao Paulo, where the couple lived before his death.

The remaining 70 per cent of his assets is reserved for his children, which will include the unrecognised daughter that he might have had while alive.

Kignel to AFP: “He indicated the possibility of the existence of another daughter, whose recognition will depend on a DNA test, which could not be carried out (on Pele) due to the pandemic and the state of his health,”

Other assets belonging to him, including more real estate and a stake in his brand, will also be shared once a complete inventory of his assets has been made.

According to Kignel, Pele’s unrecognised daughter is a Brazilian national and she has taken legal steps to be recognised as his daughter.

In September 2022, a court in Sao Paulo ordered Pele to submit to a DNA test, according to the G1 website. The test must now be performed on one of his seven recognised children.

Pele, who is the only player in history to win three World Cups, passed away in December 2023 at age 82 at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo after battling cancer.
