The Abia State House of Assembly has called on Security agencies in the state to step up security in Abia State University, Uturu to check the high rising cult activities. The house condemned the dastardly act which tends to give the state a bad name, adding that cultism has never been sanctioned by the state. It has equally invited the authorities of ABSU to have executive session with a view to ascertaining a first hand information to forestall further occurrence of such act.

The Speaker of the House, Martins Azubuike, also urged parents to be concerned about what their wards do while at the institution of learning.

In a similar development, the House has called on the house committee on public petition to investigate a petition tendered concerning unauthorized collection of revenue in Aba. The committee has been directed to ascertain if the revenue collection is authorized by the state, and also if the revenue collected is paid into the appropriate account. The committee was given two weeks to report progress.

Also the House considered the report of the House Committee on Education, on the earnest and passionate appeal for the reversal of the wrongful dismissal of Elder Anyanwu Levi Onyebuchi from the service of Abia State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) since July 2011 to retirement with full benefits in the interest.
