Lawmaker cautions colleagues against indiscriminate defection

A re-elected member of the House of Representatives, Mr Leo Ogor (Delta-PDP), has cautioned his colleagues against indiscriminate defection to avoid losing their seats in the House.

He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday that it was unconstitutional to defect from one party to the other.

“For every lawmaker, we need to be very careful, there is a pronouncement from the Supreme Court.

“The Supreme Court ruling is very clear that you will definitely lose your seat and section 68 sub G of the Constitution does not need a rocket scientist.

“We are not going to start this 8th Assembly with any outer of defection, if you dare defect, then definitely you are bound to lose your seat.

“Is a very clear scenario, you don’t need anybody to come and interpret it; we will enforce that to the latter, no matter whoever is defecting.’’

Ogor urged all lawmakers to desist from defecting and work towards making the country better for all. (NAN)
