Reports from England suggest former Chelsea manager and midfielder, Frank Lampard, may soon replace Marcelo Bielsa if he is unable to turn things around at Leeds United,

According to Sporting Life, Bielsa has come under scrutiny after suffering three back to back defeats for the first time in the Premier League(PL) this season and his replacement is being considered.

Leeds United narrowly lost 3-2 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, before being annihilated 7-0 at Manchester City a few days later at the Etihad Stadium.

They were also trashed  4-1 by Arsenal during the only PL game on Saturday, leaving them in 15th place, and being dragged into a possible relegation dogfight.

Luckily for Bielsa, his team still sits 5 points above the relegation zone because  Norwich City, Watford, Southampton, and Burnley, who all sit below Leeds, had their games postponed due to covid concerns, while Newcastle lost.

The implication, however, is that the teams whose games were postponed now have at least one game in hand over Leeds, a win for any of them would reduce the tally to 2 points while Watford will go above them if they win.

Bielsa has had to cope with several injuries, with major absentees including Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford, and Liam Cooper, who are the backbone of his team.

The Argentine will be hoping to get as many of his key men back for the daunting trip to Liverpool on Boxing Day.

If results don’t improve, the club will be forced to consider hiring Lampard who has been out without a job since he was sacked by Chelsea in January 2021 as his replacement.
