The Minister of Special Duties, Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu, on Saturday commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for overcoming challenges of Card Readers in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
Tanimu, who voted at the Nassarawa1polling unit, said the election had increased the credibility of INEC, and called for sustenance of the system in subsequent elections.
“I witnessed challenges faced by the commission in the Presidential and National Assembly elections, but today the INEC had shown improvement on the effectiveness of the card reader.
“There are indications that election will be free, fair and more transparent as promised by President Goodluck Jonathan,’’ he added.
He commended the orderly and peaceful conduct of voter while carrying out their civil duties.
In Jigawa, Gov. Sule Lamido on Saturday commended INEC for the smooth conduct of the elections in the state.
Lamido made the commendation after he voted at his Bamaina A polling unit in Birninkudu Local Government Area of the state.
He said that there was general improvement in the whole electoral process, especially the card readers.
According to him, the card reader is now more efficient and faster when compared to the March 28 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
He added that voter were now more familiar with the system that what was experienced in the previous polls.
The governor expressed confidence that his party, PDP would win the polls.
“I am very optimistic that my party will win the election moreso no politician will go to poll without having impression of winning,’’ Lamido said.
Lamido said that so far, the exercise had been peaceful and orderly, and urged people in the state to sustain the peace after election.
He advised supporters of any party that wins election to celebrate moderately and not to abuse opponents or destroy things in the name of celebration.
