The Lagos State Sports Council has organised a one-day sensitisation talk on the outbreak of Ebola virus.
Speaking during the event, Director of Sports, Lagos State Sports Council, Dr. Kweku Tandoh said that the sensitisation talk is organised by the council to give Lagos’ athletes, coaches, sports officers posted to local governments and Local Council Development Areas in the state, sports association secretaries and other members of staff the opportunity of acquainting themselves with practical measures to prevent and to curb the spread of the viral infection. He commended the effort of the state government to curtail the spreading of the deadly virus.
Dr. Bukky Bojuwoye of the Sports Medicine Unit, Lagos State Sports Council, during the event, educated the over 200 participants on how to prevent people from contacting the Ebola virus.
He advised participants to in turn educate members of their families and neighbours about the deadly disease and how to prevent it.
According to Dr. Bojuwoye, “the only way to prevent people from contacting the virus is for the citizens to take very serious their personal hygiene by washing our hands with water and soap and maintain a very clean environment.”
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Sports Council, Mr. Bashir Agunloye, said publication materials on tips on how to prevent people from contacting the virus produced by the Lagos State Government were distributed to participants.
