Abayomi Animashaun of Nigeria has expressed happiness in defeat after he crashed out of this year’s International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Tour tagged Lagos Open.
After beating fellow country man, Joseph Osedukwo 3-2 at the preliminary, Animashaun lost 3-1 to Sayed Ramadan of Egypt to crash out the championship.
“Against Osedukwo, I knew I was going to win because when he was leading 2-0, my coach told me to play to his forehand which I did. This gave me a lot of confidence to continue the game which ended at 3-2 in my favour.
“Against Ramadan, he said: “This is my first senior tournament and I am so excited playing against the senior players. I was confidence I would win against the Egyptian because the fans were cheering me. “But I really enjoyed myself in the tournament having played some matches.
“Although I lost but for me I will cherish this moment forever in my career.
