Environmental clean-up: No restriction of movement Saturday – Lagos govt

Lagos Governor Akinwumi Ambode

To allow for a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Lagos State government has lifted the order restricting human and vehicular movement during the September monthly environmental sanitation exercise tomorrow.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment Oluwatoyin Onisarotu, explained that the government recognized that lots of people would want to travel in and out of the state.

Onisarotu, however, advised Lagosians to celebrate in moderation, urging them to use the festive period to clean their environment and properly bag their wastes to allow for easy collection and disposal to designated dumpsites by Lagos State Waste Management Authourity (LAWMA) and PSP Operators.

He urged all to join the state’s crusade to attain a cleaner, healthier and sustainable environment, capable of promoting economic growth and well-being of the entire citizenry. The permanent secretary further implored residents to desist from dumping waste indiscriminately into canals and drainages thereby blocking the drainage channels.
