The Lagos International Jazz Festival will hold on May 30 and 31, said Inspiro productions, which organises the annual fiesta.

“The festival is also poised to become a major event on the Nigerian tourism calendar and will attract jazz and contemporary music-lovers to the country.

Our long term goal is to establish Lagos as a jazz tourism destination alongside cities like Cape Town, Montreal, Montreux, New Orleans, London, Tokyo and a host of others which are significant on the global Jazz tourism calendar and have hundreds of thousands of people visit each year and experience the cities and enjoy good music,” he said.

He explained that the Lagos megacity is not going to be left out, as it will become a jazz and music Mecca in the near future.

Sadare said this year’s line-up of artistes promises to be engaging with performances from stars Victor Masondo (South Africa), Beat Kaestli, Bright Gain, Tee Mac, Eko Brass Band, Fadabasi, Daniel Bankole, Dotun Bankole, Ara, Ruby and a host of others.

The event holds at Freedom Park, and this year’s edition, which features music workshops, master classes and jazz photography exhibition, is by invitation only.
