Lagos commences traffic diversion on Ibadan Expressway

Lagos Government also called for calm during the period, saying the construction will enhance the standard of living of the people when completed

The Lagos government has notified the public that it will commence traffic diversion at the Lagos end of the Lagos/Shagamu axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway from Thursday, June 9, as the Federal Government begins the rehabilitation of the road.  

The disclosure of the diversion plan was made by the Lagos government transportation Commissioner, Frederic Oladeinde who said, the rehabilitation of the Lagos/Shagamu section of the road is expected to be completed in December.

He also said the rehabilitation schedule contained in the notification sent by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing revealed that only kilometres 0-5 of the Lagos-Shagamu axis of the road will be modified for traffic diversion.

According to him, the lanes on the other side of the Expressway road will be accessible to motorists during the period.  

The commissioner assured that the men and women of the state’s Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be on the ground to ease traffic congestion that may arise during the construction. 

He urged for calm and understanding among all road users during this period, saying the construction, when completed, will enhance the living standard of the people in terms of a good road network and improved economic activity.
