Lagos is mourning. Only last week, a student of Dowen College, Sylvestre Oromoni, was beaten to death by his schoolmates. A few days ago, eight children died inside a parked vehicle in the Badagry area of Lagos State. And today, no less than 10 pupils of Ojodu Grammar School were killed by a truck that rammed into them at a bus stop.
According to The Nigerian Xpress, it was a hit and run trailer that ran into the students while waiting for a bus at the Grammar School Bus stop, Ojodu area of Lagos State.
The report says the students were leaving their school after examinations and were waiting for the bus to convey them home when a trailer carrying detergents rammed into them at the bus stop.
The actual number of the dead has not been ascertained. But multiple reports indicate that no fewer than 10 students were killed and several others injured by the trailer.
Some of the eyewitnesses alleged that the truck was evading a chase from VIO personnel when it ran into the children at their bus stop.
Other students of the Ojodu Grammar School, unable to contain their rage of the incident, barricaded the entire road and became rowdy.
Police officers at the Ojodu Grammar School area could hardly contain the rage of the students, working the clock to control the angry students.
Parents rushed to the school to pick up their wards after the news of the accident broke.
The Ojodu Grammar School comprised students of Babs Fafunwa Millennium Senior Secondary School, Ojodu Junior High School.
