Kwara student slumps, dies hours before matriculation

A senior member of staff of the Kwara institution, who did not want his name in print, said the student was rushed to the school clinic after she suddenly slumped during a lecture.

A student at Kwara State College of Education in Ilorin identified as Aminat Tajudeen has died while receiving a lecture in class.

Ms Tajudeen slumped around 1:30pm on Wednesday.

She was said to have collected her matriculation gown for the ceremony scheduled for Thursday and returned to class when the incident happened.

A senior member of staff of the Kwara institution, who did not want his name in print, said the student was rushed to the school clinic after she suddenly slumped during a lecture.

When contacted on Thursday, the college PRO, Abibat Zubair, who confirmed the incident, said the deceased was a student of Music/Yoruba, adding that she was mourned by the college and students during the matriculation ceremony.

“The Provost visited the parents yesterday to sympathise with them and also mourned her today during the matriculation ceremony together with the students,” the PRO said.
