Kwara Poly students march in praise of the ‘less celebrated Nigerian soldiers’

Soldiers keep the country safe, even at the cost of losing their lives. But their effort goes unnoticed. They are also less celebrated.

Students of Mass Communication department, Kwara State Polytechnic, yesterday marched the streets to celebrate the efforts of the Nigerian military in battling terrorism in most parts of the country. It is tagged: ‘Celebrating the Less Celebrated Nigerian Soldiers’.

The Nigerian  military is deployed in at least 30 states of the country to combat terrorists, bandits  and other gangs of criminals. Many soldiers have died in the process.

The students carried placards and large banners in celebration of the soldiers whom they say are less celebrated even after many of their comrades in arms have died in the process.

The gesture of the students caught the attention of the Nigetian military that tweeted: “Students of Mass Communication Department of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin on Friday 4 February 2022 held a rally in honour of Nigerian Soldiers. Tagged: ‘Celebrating the Less Celebrated Nigerian Soldiers’.”

Many Nigerians have also expressed appreciation for the soldiers whom they cheered for their sacrifice to keep others safe. 

@Oloribella said: “Soldier’s love for the nation is immeasurable, laying down their lives on daily basis to defend the nation that’s true commitment… #thankasoldier.”

@livadebola4real said: “God bless Nigeria, God bless the military and all other security operatives fighting hard to make this nation a better and safe place for all.”

@OchefuEmmanuel also said:”Wow, this is a good move, I just pray and hope other bodies and institutions emulate this. God bless the Nigerian Army #thankasoldier.”

@mattewakinfenwa said: “This is good. I’m  happy that our soldiers are being celebrated.  This will boost their moral.”
