After emerging the candidate of the Peoples  Democratic Party (PDP) for Kwara central senatorial district, former Minister of Youths and Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, has said that he has “a robust portfolio of experience” to perform greatly in office if eventually elected the senator at the general election.

Abdullahi stated this in an interaction with newsmen at his residence in Ilorin shortly after he won the PDP ticket for the senatorial race.

He had emerged the PDP candidate by a consensus arrangement done freely and without rancour.

The former minister who though has never been in a legislative office but had held offices at the executive and party levels said the experience he had had in these offices would make him to stand tall against any opponent he may be facing at the general election and successfully perform the task that would be before him in the office.

“I have been a special adviser, a commissioner and a minister and then an executive member at the party level. I think I have a robust portfolio of experience that would make me excel at the poll and successful in the office,” he said.

He however said the legislature being a field where he had never operated, he would not rely solely on experience he had had but still learn from who will be his older colleagues in the National Assembly, the special experience he would need to carry out his task.

The senatorial hopeful said he would have no difficulty in doing this because of his background as a journalist who knows how to ask questions that give him the answer he needs.

He said he made use of this background when he was appointed a commissioner for education in Kwara and people felt that being a journalist his appointment was a square peg in a round hole.

He explained that because he asked questions and received right answers on areas he was not familiar with he ended up being a commissioner that can be adjudged as one of the best in that office in the history of the state.

He further disclosed that he adopted this method in his office of Minister of Youths and Sports to record the success attributed to him in the office.

Abdullahi disclosed that if elected, he would as a senator focus on development of youths and education in his constituency and the nation at large.
