Officials of Kwara State government who had contact with the late Chief of Staff at Government House in Ilorin, Aminu Logun, in the past two weeks are now on self-isolation.

Logun died of complications from coronavirus on Tuesday.

Communication Commissioner, Henrietta Afolabi-Oshatimehin, said in a statement that officials who had contact with the deceased have had their samples taken for COVID-19 test.

“Cabinet members, personal staff of [Logun] and some medical personnel who have recently had varying degrees of contacts with the late technocrat have now proceeded on self isolation,” she said.

She explained that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq last had physical contact with Logun in April, after which they had virtual meetings until Logun died.

“It is important to note that … AbdulRazaq last had any physical contact with [Logun] on April 6 during the launch of the conditional cash transfer for the elderly,” Afolabi-Oshatimehin explained.

“[His] subsequent meetings with [Logun] had all been virtual. Similarly, the State Executive Council meetings and most official engagements have consistently been held through virtual platforms in line with the COVID-19 protocols.”

“Flowing from this, government officials are again urged to avoid physical meetings at all cost as well as keep to safety measures.”
