The first Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in Kwara State, Aliyu Salman, has died at the age of 81.
The legal luminary who hailed from Ilorin was said to have died on Sunday morning in his sleep at his residence in the town.
He was a lawyer who practised both in the public service and private capacity.
The deceased was called to the Nigerian bar in 1968. He became a Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 1987.
He had been in the service of the old Sokoto State where he rose to the rank of the solicitor-general of the state before he was appointed the Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice of Kwara between 1976-1978.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has described the death of Salman as the end of a great era.
The governor in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, said Salaman was a great man who made huge contributions to the community and the state.
The governor condoled with the family and friends of the legal icon as he payed that God would grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
He also commiserated with the Emir of Ilorin, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on the sad development, recalling the meritorious service of the late legal luminary to Ilorin, the state as a whole, and to the law profession.
