Kumuyi joins Catholic Bishops to denounce homosexual relationships

William Kumuyi, Deeper Life Bible Church General Superintendent, has joined the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) to reject the directive given by Pope Francis that Catholic priests bless same-sex couples, meaning gay marriages.
Same-sex marriage is at variance with Biblical tenets and the teachings of Jesus Christ, Kumuyi said at the opening ceremony of a joint global crusade with Kumuyi and the 2023 National December Retreat, tagged “Emmanuel”.
Indeed, The Bible is very clear in both the Old and New Testaments that same-sex coupling (coined from gay or lesbian sex/marriage) is an abomination that leads to death in hell – a consequence ordained by God that human opinion can never change.
“You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22 NKJV).
“Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie. …. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.
“Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting …. who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them” (Romans 1:24-32).
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10 NKJV).
Kumuyi reiterated the commandment of Jesus Christ is for a man to get married to a woman, not a man or woman getting married to someone of the same sex.
“The Lord Jesus Christ told us before He left that we should go to the world, teach all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. He even says Heaven and earth shall pass away but his words will not pass away,” Kumuyi said.
“We stand in obedience to Christ and submissive to Him and we carry on the works of Christ that said a man and a woman should be joined together in marriage until death do us part.”

Blessing homosexual relationships against God’s law, says CBCN
The CBCN takes the same position as Kumuyi and insisted the pronouncement of Francis on same-sex marriage does not change the teaching of the Catholic Church on marriage.
The Bishops also reacted to the Fiducia Supplicants released by the Vatican, which has created confusion among Christians and the Catholic faithful, per reporting by The Nation.
“The Declaration acknowledges and carefully distinguishes between ritual, liturgical, and informal blessings,” CBCN President Lucius Ugorji and Secretary Donatus Ogun explained in a statement they jointly signed.
“While ritual or liturgical blessings are imparted according to the established norms of the Church, informal blessings refer to prayers over people who ask for them outside the liturgy or any formal celebration in the Church.
“There is, therefore, no possibility in the Church of blessing same-sex unions and activities. That would go against God’s law, the teachings of the Church, the laws of our nation and the cultural sensibilities of our people.”
