The wrestler fondly called ‘Kingstone’ in wrestling circles had defeated USA Bing of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on March 9 at the main bowl of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, and as an Imolite, wants to present the title to his governor.
A Nigerian Army personnel, Kingstone, who made his wrestling debut in Lagos in 1999 at the age of 17, has been representing the Army since 2000.
He said: “I’m happy and ready to present my title to the governor of my state. All I seek is his fatherly support as I intend to win more laurels for the state in my chosen career.
“I have won the African title and I’m set to defend it anywhere in Africa. Lots of challenges have been coming my way on this title and I’m prepared to defend it, but I need the prayer and fatherly support of the number one citizen in Imo State, well-meaning Imo indigenes and other stakeholders, to succeed,” he said.
Kingstone had encountered wrestlers that matter in Nigeria and other African nations in his weight category like Black Heritage, The Executioner, Major Ariba, Power Vic, and a host of others. He is set to make the Nigerian Army proud as the only representative of the military in professional wrestling in this part of the world.
According to his Commandant at the Nigerian Army Sports Centre, Myoung Barracks, Yaba, Lt. Col. Tunde Bello, Kingstone will go places, as the Nigerian Army is ready to take care of him as well as many other athletes representing the Army in diverse sports in the country.
Bello said: “Kingstone is one great fighter that can go places if given all the encouragement and support from all and sundry, including Governor Okorocha.
“He is hard working and committed to the sport. The sky is his limit if he continues with the way he is presently fighting.”
TheNiche learnt that Kingstone will encounter fellow country man, Monkey Man, next month in Lagos in a non-title fight before defending his title against Show mid-September in Harare, Zimbabwe.
