The director, media for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the February 16 election, Festus Keyamo, has shared two fake reports against Atiku Abubakar, the People’s Democratic (PDP) Party flag bearer.
President Muhammadu Buhari is the APC presidential candidate.
Keyamo shared the first report on February 12 on his twitter timeline where he claimed to have obtained leaked audio purported to be the voice of Segun Showunmi, the spokesman for Atiku, saying that: “Except for rigging, it is now practically impossible for an Atiku to meet the numbers again.”
In a reaction, Showunmi said the audio was taken from an interview he had with the BBC telling them that Buhari’s victory was practically impossible, but doctored to give a false impression.
Keyamo has not produced any proof to substantiate his claim.
But TheNiche audio forensic analysis of the tape found that it has been edited and tampered with. The pitch suggests a break in the recording where it was stopped at some point, and started again.
The conclusion is that it is doctored.
The second report from Keyamo came on February 13. This time, it is a signed document purportedly from the Washington based Lobbyist, Ballard Partners, predicting a negative outcome for Atiku in the election.
On the website of Ballard Partners, they described the document as a phony.
“The entire contents of the letter are false, and no individual employed by Ballard Partners has been involved in any of the actions cited in this phony letter.”
